Trip to Eden's Solace

My Eden's Solace Experience

Last May when I was there in Cagayan De Oro City for a short vacation, my cousins told me that they want me to go with them because they're planning to go in the place where you can find peace and watch relaxing views. It's called the Eden's Solace. Eden's Solace is located at Upper Sumpong Indahag, Cagayan De Oro City.

I've just recently notice that there’s a new place in their home town where you can just chill at a very affordable price and this is Eden’s Solace. I suggest to come here around 3-4pm so that you can enjoy the view before it will get dark and wont be too hot for you. The view at night is also as awesome as the day view. Eden’s Solace is said to be higher than the famous High Ridge Restaurant in CDO. The entrance fee will only cost you 20php. However, you will need to ride either a Cab or a private car to reach this place. You can either bring food (with corkage fee) or just buy food there.

Well, if you have a car then there is no problem getting there. You pass by Corpus Christi, Macasandig then go up passing by St. Mary’s School, then turn right when you reach the crossroad going to High Ridge. Go straight and read the sign. Easy. However, if you want adventure like us go to walk to the jeepney terminal within the very busy and noisy Cogon area, ride a jeepney that has a label “Indahag” on it, suck it up and have one of the most uncomfortable rides ever with what feels like 100 people inside the jeepney (but really it is just 30) and there is a high chance of you sitting on the extension—which is a long piece of wood they place across the entrance of the jeepney so that 2 more people can sit on it if you are late. Then, wait until you see the sign up ahead that says “Eden’s Solace” so the good thing about that is it is only just one ride and it costs only P10.

If you are from CDO, you are probably aware that there are two high mountains or highly elevated areas—the one at Pueblo where SM, Xavier Estates, and Xavier Heights is located and the other side where Ultra Winds, and the Alvarez Mansion is located. Eden’s Solace is on the latter side, therefore it faces the sunset.

The best time to go there is around 2:30pm and that includes travel time (the adventure one). If you leave by that time, you’ll probably arrive quarter to 3pm. This is the best time because the sun is still up but not too in-your-face wherein you cannot go anywhere. Also you’ll have more time to catch up with your friends, play truth or dare, explore the area, and reflect. Then after spending the afternoon eating chips and talking about life, you end your stay by enjoying the sunset, taking blaggir photos, and appreciating the live painting that is being created right in front of you.

We left the place after sunset and we spent around 3 hours and 50 pesos. An afternoon of story-telling, making memories, building relationships, and breathing fresh air–It was a good time and the best part is you do not have to go far for some peace and quiet but look around your city/province because I am sure it is just there.
A little ambiance, and a perfect get-away from all those heavy traffic in the city.
